History and ministry

Homacho [ሆመቾ; Hadiyyisa: Hoommachcho] is the administrative centre of the Gibe district (north-western part of the Hadiyya Zone).

The Protestant movement began in Homacho during the Italian invasion (1936-41). The Kale Heywet Church, the Mekane Yesus Church and the Apostolic Church of Ethiopia had each two congregations in the town. There is also an Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (by the name of ‘Holy Trinity’).
