Keren is the second-largest city in Eritrea
Swedish Evangelical Mission started ministry in Keren under the supervision of Gustav R. Sundström in 1913.
Together with Karl G. Rodén, Sundström (a theologian, physician and notable linguist) worked on a Tigre hymnal, Därus Ṣəyon [ደሩስ ጽዮን, Songs of Zion]
