Tibebe Eshete, PhD in history (Michigan State University), taught at several academic institutions, including Addis Ababa University and Michigan State University. He is the author of the outstanding book “The Evangelical Movement in Ethiopia” and now serves as Secretary of Bridge Global Forum.

Rev. Samuel Yonas Deressa, PhD in Congregational Mission and Leadership (Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN), serves as Assistant Professor of Theology & the Global South at Concordia University, St. Paul, MN.

Authors

Balisky, Lila W., Doctor of Intercultural Studies (Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena), served with her husband, Dr E. Paul Balisky, under SIM and the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church from 1967 to 2005. She has taught at the Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology as well as at other theological schools in Ethiopia.

Ferran, Hugo, PhD in anthropology (EHESS, Paris), MA in ethnomusicology (University of Paris 8), conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Montreal. He is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Advanced School for Social Sciences at EHESS.

Nilsson, Marianne, BA in musicology (University of Stockholm), worked in Ethiopia with the Swedish Evangelical Mission and the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, living in Asmara (1963-65), Adwa (1970-71) and Addis Ababa (1971-1986).

Qashu, Leila, PhD in ethnomusicology (Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada), is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (Montreal). She has been working with the Arsi Oromo and conducting fieldwork since 2002.

Rønne, Finn Aa., Dr. theol. (University of Copenhagen), teaches as Professor of Church History at Dansk Bible Institute (Copenhagen) and as a guest lecturer at Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology in Addis Ababa.

Steinhovden, Jan Magne, MA in World Music Studies (University of Sheffield), is writing his PhD dissertation at the University of Bergen on music as identity performances among Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants to Bergen. He spent 10 years of his childhood in Ethiopia and worked with Norwegian Lutheran Mission and Mekane Yesus Church in Hawassa and Addis Ababa (from 2006-2010).
