“Atalay was one of the young men actively involved in the Pentecostal movement in Ethiopia in the 1970s. Though he came from a strict Orthodox family from Gojjam, he became a committed Pentecostal a famous gospel singer. He suffered imprisonment for his faith several times. Atalay studied medicine and graduated from the Medical Faculty in Addis Ababa University. Currently he is the director of the Emmanuel Hospital in Addis Ababa and is also offering courses related to psychiatry in the Faculty of Medicine. He still composes and songs gospel songs.”
