English translation
The Oromo girl Aster is making an excellent contribution. Her work is of the greatest importance to our mission. She has a profound knowledge of her language and is extraordinarily qualified for this work. She labors all day long with her pen and traces all the words that are derived from one and the same root. Both she and Onesimos are from the interior of Oromo land and are preparing a wordbook in pure Oromo, avoiding all dialect forms.
She is filling the gaps. She finds the words as she knows the language better than anyone else. She has been assigned a new task of composing a dictionary of Galla. Although she is young, she is unusually steady and has a genuine character. Her face bears evidence of intelligence and energy. She looks so earnest and skilful that even in the beginning, I had due respect for her, being ashamed of my own poor language.
