Ludwig Krapf sent the following 20 original parchment manuscripts and copies on paper of additional 11 manuscripts from Ankober to Tübingen in 1841-42 (Veronika Six, “Äthiopische Handschriften der Universitätsbibliothek Tübingen”, unpublished manuscript, Hamburg 2000):

The manuscripts include a copy of the Book of Jubilees, which is part of the biblical canon of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. This manuscript made it possible for Europeans to read the entire Book of Jubilees for the first time.

In 1847, the British Library held 82 Ethiopian codices. The vast majority of the manuscripts were acquired by Krapf in Shewa in the years 1839-42 (Isenberg left already in Nov. 1839).

In the early 1850s, Krapf sent two manuscripts with old Kiswahili poetic texts to the German Oriental Society. The manuscripts were posthumously published by a former missionary who was appointed Kiswahili instructor at the newly founded “Seminar für Orientalische Sprachen” in Berlin:
