Introduction
The “Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion” [ማርያም ጽዮ] is located in Aksum, the capital of the first Christian kingdom in Ethiopia. It is assumed that the first church on the present compound was consecrated under Ezana in the 4th century.
Important annual celebrations at the church include:
- Festival of Maryam Tsion (30 November)
- Festival of St Yared the Melodious (19 May)
