History and ministry
Gimbichu is the administrative centre of the Sooro district in the Hadiyya Zone.
The Catholic Parish St. Peter and Paul was established in 1999. In 2004, there were about 2.600 Catholics in Gimbichu. (Eth. Cath. Church Directory, p. 152)
