History and ministry

Korme [Qubee: Kormee] is located northeast of Chalia. Like Chalia, Korme belonged to the congregations that grew fast in the 1940s and 1950s. The leader of the area, Tafara Bijigaa, had become a Protestant. Galataa Hirphoo was one of the leading evangelists.

Gospel singers/ songwriters associated with Korme Mekane Yesus congregation:

Teferi Angose was key in forming the Surafel Choir at the local Mekane Yesus congregation. This choir was one of the first groups to compose and sing contemporary worship songs in the Oromo language.
