History and ministry
Launhardt, Evangelicals, p. 217-18 reads:
“The beginning of the Ourael congregation in Addis Ababa is connected with the work of the Norwegian Lutheran Mission (NLM). […]
The need for a permanent NLM base in Addis Ababa arose, and the administrators observed that many Lutherans from the south were moving to the capital. To follow them up, Alemu Derseh was called in 1959 by the Norwegian Mission to serve as evangelist in Addis Ababa. The idea was not to start evangelistic work in the capital, but to take care of the believers from Sidamo and Gamo Gofa coming to town. […]
In 1963 the Ourael MY congregation benefited from the transfer of Memre Sileshi Wolde Mikael to Addis Ababa.”
