Notes

This manuscript, together with two Oromo songs, was found by Dr. Karl Jakob Lüthi in a pile of books destined for disposal in Basel. Cf. Lüthi, Aethiopisch in der Schweiz (Bern: Büchler & Co. 1936), p. 26.

This fair copy was most likely written by Johann Ludwig Krapf — based on a manuscript sent by Aläqa Zännäb from Abyssinia, which Krapf compared with the Hebrew Bible text.
