Notes

Waare belonged to a group of people in Amba Maryam (Maqdala) who were close to Prince Alemayehu Tewodros. From this time, he knew Aläqa Zännäb, one of the key figures for a spiritual revival there.

Waaree is likely one of the two Oromo eunuchs who held public Bible lessons with Aläqa Zännäb the previous year. [View Mayer in BFBS Report 1870].

The youth Waaree passed away in Adwa on October 16, 1870. [View Aläqa Zännäb’s letter to Krapf from Dec. 1870 ].
